Following the release of her second full-length album ‘It’s All My In My Head’ last year, Brighton-based artist Yumi And The Weather (AKA Ruby Taylor) kicks open the saloon door, and looks to stir up some trouble on new track ‘Lead Me Through Hell’.

Lifted from a forthcoming EP entitled ‘Feed The Wanting’ due for release in October on her own label MIOHMI Records (which will also see Ruby embark on a nine date UK tour), ‘Lead Me Through Hell’ kicks off in true spaghetti-western style, before launching into a psyched out and driving performance. Exhibiting Ruby’s uncanny ability to create cinematic melodies, her raw emotion is given the space to exorcise itself in the barren territories of the human condition.

On the track, Ruby explains: ‘This song was inspired by a long term relationship ending. Break ups are not easy and the aftermath is usually having to go through hell and out the other side, which is the basis of the song. It's also about being angry and sometimes saying or thinking things you don't mean afterwards, but at the time you do. I don't know why this song came out as a cowboy style, I guess the chords just were very fitting to the mood I was in at the time and the kinda urgent horse galloping story telling stride helped me keep positive and powerful during such a difficult and emotional situation.’

Since emerging onto the music scene with her dynamic sound and defiantly open songwriting ten years ago, Yumi has been making a name for herself with explosive live shows including festival slots at Manchester Psych Fest, Green Man, Y Not Festival and Shambala. Her music has been featured in the BBC hit drama series ‘Normal People’ and she’s gained support from Lauren Laverne, Guy Garvey, Chris Hawkins, Don Letts, Jack Saunders, Iggy Pop, Tom Ravenscroft, John Kennedy Clash, The Line Of Best Fit & more.

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell

I first came across this band's incredible cover of the R.E.M. classic "Finest Worksong" and was blown away. I finally splurged and picked up this album, and I wasn't disappointed. Solid from start to finish! Now I'll be going down the rabbit hole and picking up the other offerings! pjfrompgh
