“Find Another” is the next single to be lifted from Yumi And The Weather’s self-titled debut album which dropped September 14th via frontwoman Ruby Taylor’s own MIOHMI Records imprint. A whirlwind of spiralling, arpeggiated synth patterns meet a focused and propulsive rhythm section, instantly hurling the listener into a sonic freefall, as front-woman Ruby Taylor's delicate vocals drift weightlessly by. With this slice of psych-infused indie pop, the Brighton based outfit inject yet more excitement into an already successful year.
Ruby elaborates on the meaning and inspiration behind “Find Another”: “It's about negative outlets produced by the darkness within, and how humans tend to take it out on themselves or one another, i.e. inflicting emotional/physical pain or self-medicating to numb. And the ideology that all darkness stems from somewhere and can be found and dealt with in a way that benefits themselves and everyone with no trace of negativity involved.”
Enlisting the help of UK polymath producer Slugabed on remix duties, the track takes on a brooding, dark and hazy edge. Jagged post grime bass notes jut out through a dense black cloud of futuristic smog, occasionally pierced glistening spires of sound, whilst a swirling undercurrent of vocals and saxophone circulate beneath.
